In 2023, The Erie Community Foundation, and its affiliates, awarded more than $800,000 in scholarships to over 500 deserving students to pursue a post-secondary education or training.

Complete the Online Application

By using GoApply, you can complete one application to apply for every scholarship for which you are eligible. Specific details about individual online scholarships are available below.

Most application deadlines are April 15, 2025.

Some scholarships require paper applications and are available in guidance offices and other locations. Separate applications are required for those scholarships.

Accudyn Products, Inc. Scholarship

Scholarships are awarded based on financial need, scholastic achievement, and academic standing. First preference is given to Accudyn employees and qualified lineal descendants or Accudyn employees. Second preference is given to graduating high school seniors at Cathedral Prep, Mercyhurst Prep, and Villa Maria High School.

AJO Forever Scholarship

Scholarships are awarded to well-rounded high school students involved in high school activities, community activities, church activities, and/or a part-time job. Applicants must intend to pursue a nursing degree, submit an essay on why they want to become a nurse, and include a letter of recommendation.

Autism Society Northwestern Pennsylvania Scholarship

This scholarship is intended to benefit, encourage, and assist students with an Autism Spectrum Disorder diagnosis and an IEP or 504 seeking higher education and/or job training. All qualified candidates are eligible; preference and special consideration will be given to those individuals with a current Autism Society NWPA membership.

Ernst R. Behrend Scholarship

Preference is given to descendants of former employees of Hammermill Paper Company or its corporate successor, International Paper Company, who reside in Erie County. Second preference is given to other graduating seniors in Erie County with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3 or better and a minimum combined verbal and mathematics SAT score of 1100. Eligibility is limited to the children with families combined income is below $80,000 a year.

Paul & Barbara Bond College Scholarship

Applicants must be graduating seniors from Erie City’s Public schools who intend to pursue a bachelor’s degree in any field and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Eda Camphausen Law Scholarship

Scholarships are awarded to residents of Erie County who are first-year students at Harvard University Law School. Applicants must have obtained the highest LSAT for the year of admission.

Lovisa Card Catlin Art Scholarship / Lester R. Roesner Scholarship Fund

Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors from a public or private high school in Erie County pursuing secondary study in the field of art, architecture or industrial art. Applicants are required to submit up to six of the best examples of their work in a jpeg format on a CD with a completed application form.

Carpenters Local 81 Scholarship

Scholarships are awarded to children or grandchildren of members (in good standing) of Carpenters Local 81. Applicants must be graduating or have graduated from a high school in Erie, Crawford, Warren or Venango Counties in PA, Ashtabula County in Ohio, or Chautauqua County in New York. An excellent attendance record, at least a 3.0 GPA, a commitment to community service, and a demonstrated need for financial support are also required. An essay is required.

Carlson Family Scholarship

This scholarship benefits current employees of 4 Front Solutions, formerly AccuSpec Electronic, LLC and their descendants, provided that the employee has at least one uninterrupted year of service in good standing. Descendants of retired AccuSpec employees are also eligible, provided the retiree was employed by AccuSpec in good standing for at least three years consecutively.

Barbara A. Chambers Ed.D Scholarship

Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors from an Erie County high school with a minimum GPA of 3.5 who rank in the top 10% of the class. Applicants must be full-time students at Gannon University or Mercyhurst University pursuing a career in the sciences or education.

The Inja & Kwang Choi, MD Family Scholarship

This award benefits seniors of Meadville Area High School, Cochranton Junior-Senior High School, Conneaut Area Senior High School, and Saegertown Junior Senior High School who plan to study medicine or engineering upon graduation. Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

DefIANt Scholars Program

Scholarships are intended for students with a disability. The goal is to help aid the disabled community to break down barriers, stereotypes, and misconceptions inside the classroom. First preference is given to individuals from Erie County.

Sophie Dernar Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship benefits a four-year member of the Seneca High School girls basketball team who exemplifies the positive attitude and strong team ethic that Sophie demonstrated in her life every day. Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Judith A. Dormann “Good Apple” Scholarship
This scholarship is designed to inspire, encourage, and assist a student who may not otherwise consider post high school education or training. The goal is to provide an award to a student who is a good person in general, someone who works hard, displays a good work ethic and exhibits person initiative in a positive way. Applicants must have at least a 2.5 GPA.
Frederick Douglass Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to students of African-American descent who are graduating seniors from Erie High School or NW PA Collegiate Academy with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.
The Jerome H. & Dr. Elizabeth Emling Post Graduate Fund
This Scholarship, established by Jerome and Elizabeth Emling, will benefit an Erie County resident looking to attain a doctorate degree, or advance their master’s degree into a doctorate degree in Social Service, or Education. Priority will be given to doctoral candidates that are already enrolled and studying in the field of Social Service, or Education.
Erie County Emergency Medical Services Scholarship
This scholarship, established by the county of Erie, will benefit residents who meet the designated selection criteria and intend to pursue a successful career or volunteerism in the field of emergency medical service in Erie County. Eligible applicants include disproportionately impacted groups (minorities, women, New Americans, inner city, or rural residents), income qualifying individuals, and/or individuals who have experienced career or academic displacement due to COVID-19. Scholarship recipients who complete EMT, AEMT, or EMR courses must work or volunteer in the field of EMS in Erie County for at least one year; otherwise the scholarship must be paid back in its entirety. Scholarship recipients who complete paramedic coursework must work or volunteer in the field of EMS in Erie County for at least two years; otherwise 50% of the scholarship must be paid back. Additionally, a scholarship recipient can fulfill these requirements by volunteering with a volunteer fire department or EMS agency in Erie County for one year (EMT, AEMT,EMR) or two years for paramedic training.
GE Transportation AAF "Raymond Clarke" Dare to Dream Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors from Erie High School who have been accepted to a 2 or 4-year accredited university or trade school and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.2 or higher. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or hold an official U.S. work authorization.
The Goodwine Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors from public or private high schools in Erie County who are pursuing a two-year associate degree or certificate (not a baccalaureate degree). Applicants must have a lifetime GPA of at least 2.0 at graduation.
The James V. Gray Memorial Scholarship
This is a need-based scholarship, established in honor and memory of James Vincent Gray, an Erie School District teacher and coach. Applicants must be an Erie School District graduating senior who has been accepted into an accredited two or four-year college or university and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
The James V. Gray Memorial Scholarship II
This is a need-based scholarship, established in honor and memory of James Vincent Gray, an Erie School District teacher and coach. Applicants must be Erie County Erie County graduating seniors pursuing a two-year qualified program with a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
Lindsay Graygo Memorial Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to graduating female seniors attending McDowell High School who have been accepted at and plan to attend a campus of Penn State University. Preference will be given to those who have given at least 50 hours community service work and have been active participants in McDowell High School athletics and arts programs.
Walter and Florence Guelcher Scholarship
Applicants must be students at Gannon University enrolled in an engineering program who graduated from a high school in Erie County. Students applying must have a minimum GPA of 3.0, be active in their faith, and exhibit high moral character.
The David P. Hanlon and Peggy & John Pulice Memorial Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors from McDowell High School who have been accepted to a four-year college or university; first preference will be given to either PennWest University Edinboro or PennWest University Clarion. Applicants must have a 3.0 GPA and participate in community activities, high school sports, and/or leadership.
The James R. Herdzik Memorial Scholarship Award
This need-based scholarship is available to Erie School District graduating seniors who have been accepted into an accredited four-year college or university. Applicants must demonstrate a volunteer spirit and care for community and have a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
H.O. Hirt Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to full-time employees or dependents of full-time employees of Erie Insurance. College students must be full-time at an accredited university, college, graduate, or professional school and have a minimum of a 2.75 GPA to be considered.
The Gary & Helen Howell Family Scholarship Fund

This Scholarship, established by Gary & Helen Howell, will benefit high school seniors from McDowell, Cathedral Prep, Collegiate Academy and Erie High that intend to attend post-secondary education at any college or university. This is a financial need-based award. Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

The Dr. Alice M. Hudder- Richard T. Molder Post-Secondary Scholarship Fund

This Scholarship, established by Richard Molder, will benefit an Erie County high school senior that intends to attend post-secondary education at any college or university. Two awards will be given, one to a student studying science, math, or business and the other to a student studying art and/or music. This is a financial need-based award, preference will be given to students showing a desire to better themselves through education and who show a demonstrated work ethic both inside & outside of school. Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Lucinda Kelsey Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to employees (at least one year) of Polymer Molding Inc. as well as their children and grandchildren. Applicants can pursue trade school, community college, university, or graduate studies.
The Sophie Kosiorek Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors from Erie County high schools who plan to attend Penn State Behrend. The application must include at least one letter of recommendation and demonstrate financial need.
The Kowalik Family Christopher Gott Memorial Scholarship
Christopher Gott was a gentle soul who had a great love of learning. In addition to his skills in the field of electronics, Christopher was a registered nurse and an accomplished classical guitarist. This Scholarship in intended to benefit a high school senior who, like Christopher, strives to continuously build his or her skills and knowledge. The scholarship is available to students graduating from the school district of the City of Erie.
The Joseph Michael Kulka Jr. Scholarship
Offered by The LGBT Funds of The Erie Community Foundation, this scholarship is awarded to bachelor’s degree candidates who demonstrate a strong commitment to improving awareness and understanding of all types of diversity in the Erie region. Applicants must have at least a 3.0 GPA and participate in community activities. An essay describing the specific efforts applicants have made to promote, support, and encourage diversity in the Erie area is required.
The Mary E. Kwiatkowski Social Services Scholarship Fund
Offered by The LGBT Funds of The Erie Community Foundation, this scholarship removes financial barriers and opens doors for diverse and underrepresented talent in Erie County’s social services sector. Applicants must be female and/or LGBTQIA+ students seeking a major or minor in social sciences and ultimately a public services career. An essay detailing why the student is pursuing a career in public service and identifying one public service challenge facing the Erie region is required. Students newly accepted to or currently attending any Erie County college, university, or vocational training program are eligible to apply.
Jane Schieber Laskowski Kickstart Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to students attending any qualified two-year program in Erie County that will enhance or advance current level of skill and employment. Applicants must maintain six credit hours minimum, per session/semester and an overall “C” average. Preference may be given to candidates who are 21 or older and who work part time.
Charles and Louis Lincoln Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to Erie High School students who are first- or second-generation Americans. Recipients are selected on scholastic ability, acceptance to an accredited institution of higher education, and financial need.
Martin Family Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors from an Erie County High School with preference given to those attending a college or university in Western PA. Applicants must have successfully completed two years of a foreign language, participated in a school-sanctioned sport, participated in at least one club or organization, have at least a 3.0 GPA, and demonstrate financial need.
Alice R. Moomy Pennsylvania State University Scholarship
This scholarship benefits Erie County students attending any campus of Penn State University majoring in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, or nursing- related programs. Applicants must have at least a 3.0 GPA, and preference is given to female candidates.
The Douglas & Deborah Murphy Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors from Erie High School who intend to pursue a successful career path beyond high school and have at least a 3.0 GPA.
Hugh M. Nelson Engineering Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to Erie County residents who are currently sophomores or juniors enrolled in a BS Engineering Program at Penn State Behrend or Gannon University in an ABET accredited engineering degree program leading to a B.S. in engineering. Recipients are selected on academic standing, faculty recommendation, college activities, required applicant letter outlining their goals, and financial need.
The NWPA Food Council Scholarship
This award is intended to benefit graduates in good standing of any Erie County high school and will support the pursuit of post-secondary education or training. Preference may be given to students who are working in and/or pursuing careers in the food, grocery, or convenience store industries. Applicants must have at least a 3.0 GPA.
The Pay-It-Forward Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to Erie County residents who are currently sophomores, juniors or seniors enrolled at Penn State University, any location. Applicants must have at least a 2.5 GPA, complete a 350-500 word essay, and have two letters of recommendation. Candidates must also maintain part-time employment while enrolled in college.
The PSN Labs Scholarship
This is a need-based scholarship for seniors graduating from Erie County schools who have been accepted into an accredited four-year college or university. Applicants must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA.
Dr. Michael J. Relihan Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors from Erie County high schools who have been accepted by an accredited college or school.
Tom Roberts Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship honors the legacy of Tom Roberts who volunteered in support of youth sports, particularly baseball and softball, in a variety of ways for more than 40 years. Two scholarships will be awarded annually to high school seniors playing on their high school baseball or softball teams. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.25 plan to attend a college, university, or technical school.
Joyce A. Savocchio Scholarship
Applicants must be a female senior graduating from NW PA Collegiate Academy or Erie High School and be enrolled at a college or university located within Erie County.
Spanos Family Memorial Scholarship
To qualify, applicants must be an active member, in good standing, of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Erie and be scholastically outstanding. Applications will be judged on merit, academic ability, financial need, extracurricular activities, citizenship, character, and parish involvement.
The Peter C. Sotus, M.D. Scholarship
This award is available to a high school senior who has been accepted to an accredited post-secondary institution, with the intent of pursuing a career in the fields of medicine or music. While the scholarship is available to all, preference will be given to a student born outside of the US, or who is a child of a person born outside the US and is a US citizen.
Stazer Sisters’ Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to United States citizens graduating from the Northwest Pennsylvania Collegiate Academy who are accepted to a four-year degree program. Applications will be judged on academic record and goals, financial need, essay, and record of activity in school.
The John R. Stempka Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship, Established by Linda Stempka and the Stempka Family, will benefit an Erie County resident looking to further their education by enrolling in a technical education program, with first preference given to those that intend to study welding.
Dr. Alfred W. Stone Scholarship
Scholarship recipients must have graduated from a PA high school or a cyber school and have completed their first year at Allegheny College or Edinboro University. Applicants must be pursuing a degree in psychology, art, education, or technology and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. This scholarship is renewable for undergraduate study for a maximum of three years as long as the student maintains satisfactory academic progress.
Carol & Joseph Tafelski Memorial Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to Erie High School students pursuing a degree in healthcare or medical research. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.25 and be accepted at an accredited four-year college or university.

Academy High School Class of 61 Memorial Scholarship

Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors attending Northwest Pennsylvania Collegiate Academy who have been accepted into a four-year college and have an excellent academic, extracurricular, and personal record.

Sister M. Lawreace Antoun, SSJ Scholarship

Scholarships are awarded to females attending Cathedral Preparatory School based on need and ability.

Louis W. Balmer / Gray Erie Engineering Societies Council Scholarship

Scholarships are awarded to residents of Northwestern PA pursuing a full-time program leading to a baccalaureate degree in engineering, science or technology, or related curricula. Applicants must be scholastically outstanding, worthy, and promising students as determined by the school administration. To apply, contact the deans in engineering or chemistry at Allegheny College, Edinboro University, Gannon University, Grove City College, or Penn State Behrend.

Raymond M. Blasco, M.D. Scholarship

Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors from Seneca High School who have been accepted at an accredited school in a certified full-time program. An appointed faculty committee will make the selection based on character, self-discipline, co-operative behavior, respect for others, academic attitude, community, and school spirit. Contact the Seneca High School Guidance Office for an application.

Eda Camphausen Music Scholarship

Scholarships are awarded to music majors at Edinboro or Mercyhurst University.

Jim Conner Scholarship

Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors from McDowell High School based on financial need, scholastic achievement, and community service. Applicants must have a 3.0 GPA or higher and have an excellent attendance record. Apply at https://jimconnerfoundation.com.

Erie Day School Adopt-a-Scholar Scholarship

Scholarships are available to middle school students (grades 5-8) enrolled at The Erie Day School who have an excellent record of scholastic achievement, strong individual motivation, a sound sense of citizenship, and a financial need which exceed his or her parents’ contribution. Contact Erie Day School to apply.

Erie Music Teachers Scholarship Fund

Scholarships are awarded to students whose music teacher is a member of the Erie Music Teachers Association (EMTA). Information about this scholarship can be obtained from an EMTA member.

John Gillette Memorial Scholarship

Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors from General McLane High School based on need and a required written essay. Contact the General McLane Guidance Office for an application.

Attorney M. Fletcher Gornall Class of 1941 Scholarship Fund

This scholarship is offered exclusively to a graduating senior from Erie High School pursuing a post-secondary degree from an accredited college or university. Applicants must have an acceptance letter from the school administration verifying attendance and be a U.S. citizen or hold an official U.S. work authorization.

Dr. Lori Ann Gornall Memorial Scholarship Fund

Scholarships are awarded to a graduating senior from Northwest Pennsylvania Collegiate Academy based on financial need and scholastic achievement. Applicants must be pursuing a college degree in education. Contact the Collegiate Academy guidance office for more information.

Elsie Offner Gornall Class of 1942 Scholarship Fund

Scholarships are offered to Erie High School graduating seniors pursuing a post-secondary degree from an accredited college or university who are U.S. citizens or hold an official U.S. work authorization.

Jane Imhoff Grunden Scholarship

Applicants must be graduating seniors from Fairview High School in Fairview, PA and residents of Erie County enrolled at an accredited university of college on a full-time basis prior to receiving funding. Scholarships will be awarded based on financial need, scholastic achievement, community service, and excellent attendance record. Contact the Fairview High School Guidance Office for an application.

Jaloszynski Harborcreek Youth Services Scholarship

Scholarships are awarded to current or former residents of Harborcreek Youth Services wishing to pursue vocational training or secondary education. Contact the Transitional Living Program office at Harborcreek Youth Services to apply.

The Kahkwa Club Caddie Scholarship

The award is intended to benefit any Kahkwa Club caddie pursuing a degree at a college or university or a certificate program/ continuing professional education program. Contact The Kahkwa Club Scholarship Fund Directors to apply

Christopher Mark Knoll Scholarship

Applicants must be incoming first-year students at Cathedral Prep High School in Erie who graduated from an Erie County Catholic grade school. At least a B+ average is required. Apply through the admissions office at Cathedral Prep High School.

Casimir Kraus Memorial Scholarship & Internship (Widget Financial, Erie, PA)

Scholarships are awarded to full-time students attending a college, university, or technical school who have at least a 3.0 GPA. Recipients must be available to work a flexible schedule during the summer at Widget Financial in Erie. Applications are available through Widget Financial.

Donald S. and Dorothy R. Leslie Endowment

Scholarships are awarded to middle school students (grades 5-8) enrolled at The Erie Day School. Students must have an excellent record of scholastic achievement, strong individual motivation, a sound sense of citizenship, and need financial assistance. Apply at the Erie Day School.

Ellen Elizabeth McNamara Memorial Scholarship

Scholarships are awarded to female students at Gannon University who are outstanding academically, in character, in faith, and in personality just as Ellen Elizabeth McNamara was. Applicants must need financial assistance. Contact the financial aid office at Gannon University to apply.

Nancy Ostryniec Cross Scholarship

Applicants must be a high school senior graduating from Fort LeBoeuf High School who lives in LeBoeuf Township, Mill Village Borough, Summit Township, Waterford Borough, or Waterford Township. Scholarships are awarded based on standardized tests, evidence of good character, motivation, ability and potential, participation in extracurricular or community activities, teacher recommendation, and financial need. The Judge Bob Sambroak Memorial Award

Scholarships are awarded to young lawyers who pursue unique CLE opportunities. Applicants must be a young lawyer as defined by the Erie County Bar Association (ECBA), a member of the ECBA, and one who practices primarily in Erie County. In addition, it is preferred that the recipient demonstrate financial need, commitment to community service and/or public interest law, and a passion for developing and improving effective written and oral advocacy skills.

Ty and Jean Schuerman Scholarship

Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors from an Erie County high school with a minimum GPA of 3.0 who attend Penn State Behrend pursuing a course of study offered by the school of engineering.

Mary E. Schumann Scholarship

Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors from one of the Erie City public high schools who have outstanding academic credentials and are pursuing a collegiate course of instruction at an accredited college or university. The award rotates annually to one of the four public schools.

Jean Stull Memorial Scholarship

Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors from Fort LeBoeuf High School who have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and are U.S. citizens or hold an official U.S. work authorization. Contact the Fort LeBoeuf High School Guidance Office for an application.

The Susan E. Tidmore & David C. Migdal Memorial Scholarship

Scholarships are awarded to middle school students (grades 5-8) enrolled at The Erie Day School who have an excellent record of scholastic achievement, strong individual motivation, and a sound sense of citizenship, and need financial assistance. There is no traditional application process. Teachers recommend students for this scholarship.

Trinity Lutheran Church Scholarship

Scholarships are awarded to students active in the life and ministry of Trinity Lutheran Church who have financial need, a commitment to a path in education, and evidence of a Christian life in word and deed. Contract Trinity Lutheran Church to apply.

Weber Murphy Fox Scholarship

Scholarship recipients must be students currently attending Allegheny College, Edinboro University, Gannon University, Mercyhurst University or Penn State Behrend who are residents of Erie or Crawford County. This scholarship provides awards for post-secondary undergraduate education for students who have a demonstrated need for financial support and a G.P.A. between 3.0 and 3.5. The financial aid office at the colleges select the scholarship recipient.

Weeks - VanTassel Scholarship

Scholarships are awarded to two graduating seniors from Northwestern High School who have the highest grade point averages and are residents of Springfield Township. Applicants must be accepted at and intend to attend an accredited college, university, or other institution of higher learning. Contact the Northwestern High School’s guidance office.

Rev. John F. Weibel Scholarship

Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors attending Coudersport Senior High School, Coudersport, PA and Austin Area High School, Austin, PA. Contact the Coudersport High School or Austin High School guidance office for an application.

Yaple-Kerr Scholarship

Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors from Seneca High School accepted at an accredited school in a certified full-time program. Each year two students, always one male and one female, are selected. Scholarships will be awarded to serious students ranked in the middle third of the senior class. Contact the Seneca High School Guidance Office for an application.

Affiliate Scholarships
