A smile on a child’s face when accomplishing a difficult task is priceless and transformational. In September 2024, The Erie Community Foundation awarded a $25,000 grant to Variety, the Children’s Charity, providing six adaptive bikes and four adaptive strollers to 10 local children with disabilities.

Since 2012, Variety has provided over 629 adaptive bikes, strollers, and communication devices worth $934,000 to children in Erie County. Programs like My Bike®, My Stroller®, and My Voice® continue to transform lives.

The adaptive bikes help children experience the joys of childhood, like riding with family and friends. One mother of a bike recipient described the bike as “life-changing.” Another father shared: “This will boost her confidence and show her she can do anything. We can’t wait to ride at Presque Isle and watch her feel proud of herself.”
